Health Is Wealth 2: What Is Your Real Age?

Posted on: March 6, 2023

Last month, I wrote about how my father is 6 years older than my mom but he looks and moves like he is 30 years younger. This just shows how our calendar ages do not always reflect how old we actually are, or how fast we age. Luckily, there are services out there that can help us figure this out.

These tests are usually called biological age tests. They often involve taking a blood sample, a saliva sample or even just a cheek swab, and analyzing it to determine a person’s biological age. The method by which they determine this can fall into two camps as well, either the phenotypic method or the methylation method. One looks at your biomarkers which correspond to biological age, the other looks at your epigenetic information to determine how old your DNAs are.

Last year, when I was 54, I signed up for a phenotypic biological age test, and my result came back telling me that my biological age was 39. My health practices have until today generated 15 years of youth for me! What does that mean financially? Well, it means that  even though most people have to retire at around age 67, I can stay productive 15 years longer. Assuming I generate $1mm value for society every year, over 15 extra years, I will generate $15mm more value! I only need to capture a portion of that as my income to make myself very wealthy.

Beyond the much increased lifelong income and saved healthcare costs, to live and age without sickness is priceless! Don’t you agree? That’s why I started this “health is wealth” newsletter: Your health is your best investment! It pays off far better than picking the winning stock!!!

You might be curious about what my health practices are. Here they are, in no particular order:

  • Intermittent Fasting – one meal a day
  • 4 minutes of Tabata per day
  • 10 minutes of Yoga per day
  • Cold shower every day
  • Sauna when possible
  • Various nutritional supplements
  • Some strength exercises
  • Walking a lot.
  • Leaning new things, like a language, hip hop and improv.

I would be happy to share the details of each practice, but each of you must find your own way and don’t take my sharing as medical advice!!!
